Doctors Association Kashmir(DAK) held an emergency e-meeting which was attended by Dr Suhail Naik, Dr Owais Dar, Dr Bilal Beig, Dr Aadil, Dr Sajad Qanungo, Dr Masood ul Hassan Dr Zahid Nasti,Dr Mirzada Bilal, Dr Aijaz Bhat, Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Dr Yousuf Taak, Dr Arshid Trag,Dr Firdous Masoodi, Dr Masood Rashid , Dr Arif Khawaja, Dr Fayaz Bhat, Dr Mir Mushtaq apart from other DAK core members .
DAK has expressed dismay over a circular issued by Directorate of Health Services Kashmir(DHSK), were the doctors have been threatened by laws like The Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). Dr Suhail Naik President DAK said, “It is in place to mention that doctors are not on strike but are availing gazetted holidays as applicable to all Government Employees. DAK had time and again intimated the DHSK and Govt. that doctors be compensated for the same, however Govt. failed to take any concrete steps in this matter, though other health employees are getting duly compensated financially for the same". Dr Naik further said that "no doctor was on strike as has been wrongly portrayed, it is the right of every Govt. Employee to avail the gazetted holidays as no service rules bars us from availing the same and it is also pertinent to mention that during the said days casualty functions 24 ×7 and only routine work is not conducted".
Dr Naik added that, "after high level Committe which was framed by Hon'ble Health Minister, DAK has deferred the proposed strike programme which had to come into force from 20th June. DAK stresses upon DHSK to refrain from issuing such statements which will lead to law and order problem as it will make public hostile against doctors who are on their legitimate off’s during gazetted holidays. It further impresses upon the authorities that doctors will continue to avail gazetted holidays unless and until Government doesn’t come up with a concrete plan for compensating us with the same. DAK warns the authorities that if any unwarranted illegitimate action is taken against any doctor ,Govt. will be fully responsible for the consequences thereof.
